Baby Alpaca is lustrous, silky and very soft. It’s lanolin-free, making it hypoallergenic and a good choice for those unable to wear wool. Perfect for creating warm, snuggly garments and accessories, Alpaca has a high thermal capacity as it has microscopic air pockets in the fibres, creating insulation. We produce Baby Alpaca yarn as it is the softest of all the Alpaca fibres, obtained from the first shearing of young animals.
We buy our tops from Baby Alpacas farmed in Peru. The herds are well kept as the farmers take so much pride in their animals. Alpacas are shorn in the spring of every year, before the Peruvian summer and the wet season, helping them to keep cool.
